The Gentleman’s Retreat

Project description This garden was created for the Spring Gardening Show, Malvern. It won a coveted Royal Horticultural Society Gold Medal and further award for Best Show Garden.

Design brief In the fast moving and often hectic world of today’s man, a space to relax and escape from the pressures of a demanding career and busy social life has become increasingly important. The Gentleman’s Retreat has been designed to meet this need in a calm and restful outdoor setting.

As an extension of his contemporary home, the garden aims to provide a space to relax, maybe for a few hours with coffee and the weekend papers or a summer’s evening for drinks and dinner with friends.

The use of rugged materials, colours and sculptural shapes present a masculine look which will complement the interior of his home.
